Fall 2008 Focus Topics:
- Career Pathways: Tech Prep, SB70/SB1133 and AB2448 among other initiatives and sound local practice have resulted in the development of strong regional partnerships with an emphasis on collaboration with local school districts. Presentations on building effective pathways, including outreach to middle schools, high schools and ROCPs, CTE articulation, student tracking/follow-up models, and encouraging faculty participation are solicited.
- Special Populations: Many Career and Technical Education students fall into one or more of the seven categories of Special Populations defined by Perkins IV. Effective programs that target the support needs for these populations can result in higher rates of course and program completion. Presentations that provide the “how to-s” of model programs for special populations are solicited.
Additional Topics:
- Teaching & Learning: Curriculum development, program development, faculty/administration partnering, student support services, hybrid programs, distance education, non-credit to credit articulation, learning communities, assessment and placement
- Accountability & Accreditation: Data management, program review, Perkins Accountability Indicators, student learning outcomes/assessment cycles, Perkins IV
- Economic and Workforce Development: Promoting partnerships with public and private institutions, locally, regionally and nationally, WIB partnerships, SO Strategic Plan
