Duties and Responsibilities

The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Automotive Technology Instructor, De Anza College.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
Under the direction of the Division Dean, provide instruction in automotive electrical principles, automotive mechanisms, automotive electromechanical devices and other automotive courses as needed. Teaching assignments will include evening instruction and use a variety of teaching techniques as required in lectures and laboratory activities. Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attendance at department and division meetings, pursuit of professional growth activities and performance of other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to serve on District and college committees and participate in campus extra-curricular activities. Secondary duties could include activities such as student recruitment and advising. Act as liaison between the college and professional and/or educational organizations and community advisory groups. Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum in the subject matter of your expertise. This should include the integration of computers for instructional purposes in both the laboratory and lecture where appropriate.
Conditions
HIRING RANGE: $52,640-$86,454 annually plus benefits; actual placement is non-negotiable and is based on applicant's verified education and experience.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Tenure-track position, 10 months per year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Any bachelor's degree in related field and two years experience OR any associate degree plus six years of related experience OR the equivalent.
- Possess a valid driver's license and a current ASE certification in the area of A6.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor's degree in Vocational Education, Industrial Technology or related field, with an emphasis in Automotive Technology.
- Successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
- ASE Master Certification.
- Two years recent related occupational experience with a specialty in automotive electronics and automotive computer systems.
- In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate they have the knowledge and abilities to effectively teach and work with persons of diverse socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds
