DEADLINE DATES FAST APPROACHING . . .

  • Surely you have a colleague or community partner who deserves recognition for outstanding contributions in occupational education and workforce development.

    Now’s the time to provide that recognition through the CCCAOE 2008 AWARDS. Outstanding teaching faculty; outstanding faculty, staff, administrative leadership; and outstanding partnerships with your community businesses are those CCCAOE is looking to recognize at the Spring 2008 Conference in Sacramento, March 12-14.

  • CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS – deadline December 13, 2007:
  • BACK TO BASICS: Creating Solutions, Building Strength
    is the theme for the CCCAOE Spring 2008 Conference in Sacramento. The Call for Presentations focus topics for this conference are

    • Basic Skills:  Given the statewide Basic Skills Initiative, this will again be a focus area. Workshops that highlight effective basic skills delivery models, demonstrate integration of basic skills with occupational curriculum, or showcase work-in-progress models from colleges working collaboratively on a new delivery system are solicited.

    • Leadership: Career development, communication, team building, mentoring, interview preparation, leadership skills development
    Additional Topics:
    • Teaching & Learning
    • Accountability & Accreditation
    • Economic and Workforce Development
    • Strategic Planning & Other Issues

    PRE-CONFERENCE SESSION AT CCCAOE SPRING 2008 CONFERENCE – March 12
    CCCAOE and NCWE (Ntl. Council for Workforce Education) will be jointly provided a pre-conference session on Wednesday, March 12, 8:30-11:30 a.m. ~ just prior to the opening of the CCCAOE Spring 2008 Conference. The emphasis of this special session will be on policy issues in workforce development, particularly with regard to the linkage between workforce education, basic skills, non-credit programs and adult education. The session will emphasize effective policies and practices in other states. The keynote speaker will be Julie Strawn, Senior Policy Analyst with the Center for Law and Social Policy. In addition representatives from the I-Best project in Washington state will describe the path from research to policy to practice that has proven effective in moving students to sustainable futures.

    There will be a fee of $25 to attend this pre-conference session in addition to the regular CCCAOE conference registration fee. Registration can be handled on the online registration form at www.cccaoe.org. Register early for both the conference and this pre-conference session.

    REGISTRATION FOR CCCAOE SPRING 2008 CONFERENCE – do it now
    It’s never too early to register and make your hotel reservations for the soon-to-be-here CCCAOE Spring 2008 Conference in Sacramento, March 12-14 at the Holiday Inn Capitol Plaza. Early registration is $295 and can be submitted online at www.cccaoe.org. Hotel reservations can also be made at the same website with a direct link to the hotel. Deadlines for early registration and hotel reservations are in February ~ but don’t be disappointed! Register now! An agenda for the conference will be posted in mid-January.

    The Fall 2007 issue of the CCCAOE Newsletter with articles and pictures from the recent conference in Cathedral City plus much more information should be arriving in your mailboxes within a few days. Enjoy and share with your colleagues ~ encourage them to become part of this great organization, CCCAOE.
